We know… If you’re here it’s because you’ve probably heard about making money with Google and you’re interested, but you don’t know how… Right?
From the title of this article, it is very likely that right now you are asking yourself “what is Google Adsense and how does it work?
Don’t worry, in this article we are going to explain in detail what Adsense is, and how you can earn money. Are you interested? Well, let’s get to it!
What is Google AdSense?
Google Adsense is a free Google tool, which allows webmasters to earn money with their web pages, whatever the site they manage: blogs, travel websites, e-commerce.
How does Google AdSense work?
It all starts with businesses that want to advertise on Google, to give more visibility to their products. These businesses must first register with the Google Ads tool, where they can create ad campaigns and reach many more customers through a paid method.
The procedure is as follows:
On the one hand, we have a webmaster (or site administrator), who owns and manages a website (whatever the subject matter).
On the other hand, we have Google, which has advertisers who pay it to give visibility to their ads.
So far it sounds ideal, doesn’t it?
In fact, anyone reading this may think: “Great, I’ll let Google have as many spaces as it wants on my website, attract traffic and start earning money with Adsense”.
But it’s not all that easy… Google asks every webmaster to meet a series of requirements before joining the Google Adsense community.
Here, we are going to detail some of the most important ones that can make you not to be accepted to the Google Adsense community and that you will be penalized and expelled forever.
Requirements to be accepted in Google AdSense
Once you have decided to earn money with Google, you must create a Google Adsense account. Once created and following the steps explained in the next point (how to set up Google Adsense step by step), Google will ask you to meet the following requirements to be accepted in Adsense:
Be the owner of the website
This first point is essential to be accepted in the Google Adsense monetisation network: you will need to have access to the HTML source code in order to include a code through which Google will verify that you are the owner of the website.
Have several accounts for the same publisher
This is very important because according to Adsense policies, it is not allowed to have more than one account associated with the same publisher. For this, one of the solutions proposed is to grant permissions to another account and remove the credentials of the main one. In this way, we will be changing the publisher’s account.
Original and own content
This is another of the fundamental characteristics that any website must comply with in order to be able to earn money with Google. As we already know, Google wants the content we create to be new, original, own and of quality. So much so that if it detects that we are copying content from other digital sources and/or this content is not ours, it will not accept us in the Google Adsense community.
Be at least 18 years old
Another fundamental requirement to start earning money with Adsense is to be of legal age. When creating the account, Google will want to know our age to verify that we have the minimum age required to start monetizing with Google Adsense.
Quality Web Content
Google Adsense wants the websites where ads are going to be shown to have the highest possible quality in terms of content. This means that you cannot activate your Adsense account for the following reasons:
As we have already mentioned in point 3, Google wants the content we create to be new, original, own and of quality, and if this is not the case, you will not be accepted in the Google Adsense community. It is also advisable not to include the Adsense code on pages where the content is generated automatically.
Insufficient content
Another of the requirements that Google demands to start monetising our websites with Adsense is to comply with a minimum amount of content in text format.
That is why, in any of the following cases, your website may be rejected:
- Case 1: if there is not enough text to provide value to the user.
- Case 2: if the website only has images, animations or videos.
- Case 3: if the pages are empty or are unfinished templates.
- Case 4: if the content contains only headings and/or incomplete sentences or paragraphs.
And although it is not an exact science, it is considered that from about 20 articles or pages with content, Google Adsense will start to look at you favourably and you will have more chances of being accepted (as far as content is concerned).
Website Theme
It is possible that you are meeting all the above specifications, but Google Adsense is still rejecting you. In this case, you may need to check whether or not your website’s theme is suitable for monetisation and monetisation policies.
The following topics are the ones that will not let you earn money with Google, as they violate their guidelines:
- Piracy
- Derogatory content
- Sites related to drugs, alcohol or tobacco
- Sites with fake content
- Violent content
- Illegal content
- Weapons-related content (knife or firearms)
- Adult content
Privacy Policy Page
It is essential to create a page detailing the privacy policy of the site. This will give Google valuable information about who is behind the website, as well as giving them reasons to trust the website.
You probably feel a bit lost now. Luckily, there are platforms that make the whole process easier for you. This is the case of MediaFem.
